The weather has been windy and chilly lately. Our Fall season didn't last long enough for my annual pictures of the trees changing. I love riding around getting shots of all the colors, but Mother Nature didn't cooperate this year.
Recently, discovered I have diabetes so I am going to doctors and classes. Diabetes is a scary disease. It can affect so many body parts in a dangerous way. There is a lot connected genetically and life style choices. I already have a deterorated thyroid which doesn't help either. I thank God I am still living and enjoying life so I will carry on.
It was a busy weekend with lots going on. Friday after classes, I rushed home to make it to dinner with my daughter, Keri and our friend, Janet at the Flight Restaurant in Minden. Right after dinner, we went to the next office space to use our creative skills and paint a picture. My masterpiece is shown above of a seascape scene. It is a fun idea, a bunch of people get together are given a blank canvas and paints and the teacher shows you how to paint. Everyone usually does the same scene putting a little of their own ideas in their painting. It was so much fun that I went back on Sunday with my girl friends to celebrate Paula's birthday and we did a Christmas theme picture. This time we brought some wine and chocolate covered almonds to get us going.
Saturday night, Ron and I went church at 4:00 p.m. then to Sharkey's Casino to bid farewell to the employees. Sharkey's which is a landmark in our town was closing after 40 years because of bankruptcy. After that we journeyed to the Carson Valley Inn to a comedy show called "Late Night Catechism." We laughed through the whole presentation and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Soon it will be Thanksgiving. A time to remember how much we have to be thankful for and express our gratitude for the comforts we have, the country we live in, our families and our faith.
