The holiday weekend begins and I am still recovering from my operation. I'm making progress daily which is good. It has afforded me time to delve into my genealogy again. I have put that aside for a while and it is good to get back to exploring my family tree. Still missing information on my great grandfather Patrick O'Neill. Just wish I could link some positive proof of his origins and family. One researcher in Australia found a ship document that shows a Patrick O'Neill and his brother John traveling to Australia on the ship Ida. (The folklore of the family is that Patrick went to Australia with two brothers. When they left Australia in 1869, Patrick came to America and his brothers returned to Ireland.) On the ship record it showed that both brothers came from Portglenone Ireland and that a Bernard O'Neill sponsered them. (I often wondered where my grandparents came up with my father's name, Bernard since no close relatives were names that. Although through genealogy research, I did discover that my great grandmother Julia Curran who married Patrick O'Neill had a brother named Bernard. Maybe my grandfather Nick was close to him.) Mysteries continue as I try to find the truth.
