Since David is home now it has been a learning experience for his family. They have had some setbacks with the shower and his wheel chair motor stops when Bernie was transporting him one day. She and her daughter, Amber had to push it manually and they had trouble getting it out of the van. But all is OK now. Bernie's family has been helping them and she is so appreciative. Her dad fixes things for her and her mom and sister come to help during the week. She is trying to get help through the state but is a slow process. Pray that things happen for them as in September they will need extra help.
They are also learning how to use technology so David can function on his own for some things. They did figure out how to get access to control the Direct TV box with his IPhone which was a huge accomplishment.
David stays very busy. He has about 5-6 hour of physical therapy and about 5-6 hours of occupational therapy every week. It makes him very tired but we are seeing some nice things. He is lifting his left arm up to his mouth and can adjust it when he wants. We have a special fork that attaches to his hand and with some help can stab some foods and feed it to himself. Another huge step. His right arm is not coming along as quickly but his fingers on his right hand are moving a bit. That arms hurts him a lot. This week they have also seen some movement in the toes of his right foot. Something they never expected to see.
Bernie had to go back to work this week at the school district getting the kitchens open next week. God is good and we are expecting a miracle.
