I moved here in October 1975 with my first husband and family. We lived on Lompa Lane in Carson City in a mobile home while waiting for our house to be built on Johnson Lane.
When we moved to Wade Street in Minden, the older kids were growing up. It was only after the divorce in 1981 that I moved into town and lived in a condo that I bought. Keri and Terese were still with me. I was working at the Security Bank in Minden, Nevada as the drive up teller.
After I met and married Ron (the end of 1983), I moved back to Northern California until we both received early retirement in 1998. My company SF Federal was sold and closed, his company Southern Pacific Railroad merged with Union Pacific and moved to Kansas City.
We came back and refurbished the condo and lived there until 2000 when we moved into our present house in town on Toiyabe Avenue, Gardnerville. We are right behind the Raley's Market, close to shopping, the parks and church.
Above is a picture of Katey, my granddaughter sitting on our cement bench in front of our house. It is always builds memories when the kids come to visit. Over the years, our house has been filled many times with suitcases, back packs, clothes and shoes from the grand kids lying around the house. We have even had a bird visit and animals invade. The thing I remember the most is the beautiful faces of the children as they slept so innocent and when awake so expecting. We are blessed to have a family that is in no way perfect, but living, breathing and growing. Sometimes I just look at the pictures of our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and just smile at the awesomeness of it all.
