BTW I am feeling a little chilly right now and last night's news said it would be warming up today. Could they have been wrong? Think so.
Last day in April! Where has this month gone? And the weather has been warm and cold. Springtime I am longing for you. I am in the midst of getting my new All In One computer set up and in a learning mode with the new Windows 8.1. Miss the desktop with all of my files. Haven't transferred much yet, but today I will try a few things. I have a fellow helping me (thank God) but he couldn't come today. So I am on my own.

![]() Sorting through winter clothes and getting things put away in those storage bags. Will tackle my office next. Yikes how did I accumulate so much stuff. Bought a new All In One computer and have to get it set up soon. My old one was XP which is no longer supported. I hate having to transfer programs (some are old and probably won't work with the new technology, but I like those programs. Guess it doesn't matter.) One happy note, I have more pictures of the kids to post. That always makes my day. Since they live far from us, it is a way to see how they are doing and growing. Today is Earth Day, too, we planted some flowers and a plant. Always love when the flowers are blooming and the trees are blossoming. ![]() It's Easter Sunday and we just came back from Mass and breakfast. Wish all my family and friends a joyous Easter season and many blessings. Yesterday, on Saturday, we celebrated Easter with daughter, Keri and husband, Eric and other family and friends. Eric and Keri have the best backyard for relaxing and enjoying the weather. They have it fixed up very nice and it was a joy to sit under the trees and watch the kids play on the lawn while drinking a glass of wine and visiting. Today I will make leg of lamb, red potatoes and asparagus for Ron and me. It will be a quiet afternoon, but feeling very blessed and happy today. Glad that I have life and breath in me to take in the beautiful springtime. Love all the trees that are blossoming as a sign of new life and hope. (The only negative is allergies - gesundheit! to me.) Looking forward to the next few weeks. Birthday party for great granddaughter. I will have to miss the fashion show at the museum as I can't be in two places at once. Sunday we will visit Virginia City and celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday there. Then the next Saturday is the Women's Society May Day Luncheon, Fashion Show and Expo. Our 58th Class Reunion is fast approaching on May 10th and it will be good to reconnect with old friends. I have been trying to encourage those on the fence to join us. We might not have the chance the next time one happens. What a wonderful life we are given and opportunities to love others. ![]() Since I celebrated my birthday on March 28th, I am posting a couple of pictures of the hats I wore to Red Hat events. (You wear purple during events in your birthday month. ) I had a wonderful 76th birthday this year. Celebrated with friends and family at different occasions. Went to a luncheon for Red Hats twice, one was to JT Basque Restaurant and another was held on my birthday at our Queen Juanita's home. Then the next day, Saturday, my daughter, Keri took me to Reno to shop and have lunch. We met my grandson wife and their baby at Mimi's and had a delightful time. The baby loves ripe strawberries. Plus the shopping excursion ended well with a few new outfits. That night Ron took me to dinner at Applebee's (I love the Spinach Artichoke dip) and then we attended the showing of the local theater group, "Call Me Madam." On Sunday, my girlfriends, Anita, Darleen and Paula and I went to Reno to have lunch at BJ's and then we shopped at Charming Charlies. It was a very fun and full weekend of celebrating. I finished my therapy sessions with professionals so now I am on my own. Received good reports from all my doctors that I visited this month. The surgeon is quite pleased with my shoulder healing process and mobility. Well, there is no rest for the weary. I am back full swing into my ministries and volunteer jobs. Lots of events are happening and I am in the thick of them. We are having a May Day Luncheon, Fashion Show and Expo at the Carson Nugget on May 3rd. Divine Mercy Mass and Veneration is on April 27th, the same day that Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II will be declared Saints. This year we are fortunate to have two places nearby for Divine Mercy so people can take their choice. One is in Carson City at St. Teresa of Avila Church on Saturday, the 26th at 4:00 p.m. and the other is at St. Mary's in the Mountains in Virginia City, NV at 11:30 a.m. I have been making flyers, handouts and programs for different events that will take place in April and May. I have also starting two sessions of Landings for Returning Catholics. One meets on Mondays with 7 people attending and the other on Wednesdays with 7 people in that group. We will meet for 7 weeks for 2 hours each session. Got great news last night, my grandson, Joe Thornton, who is in the Air Force just graduated from the bomb squad. He is hoping to go to the Air Force Academy if everything works out. (His dad, my son, Chris, went to the Coast Guard Academy and made it a career for 20 years.) Joe had also been taking sky diving lessons. He is quite an adventurer. My cousin, Phyllis and her husband, Jim Pedroncelli just returned from a trip to Washington, DC where they saw the wine exhibit in the Smithsonian Museum that has a old sign from the Pedroncelli Winery that was from the prohibition era. They are quite excited that memoriblia of their winery is being exhibited there. Their picture is posted below. |
