Funny what you can learn about someone after years of living with them. Ron and I will be married 32 years on NY Eve. Last night we had a nice visit with his sons, Dave and Aaron. During the visit Dave asked his dad if he still had his Golden Gloves Champion belt buckle that he received in '56. Ron had it on his end table. I knew he boxed in Oakland and have seen his boxing gloves and shoes which we still have, but I never knew about the belt buckle award. It says 132 lbs. 1956 Golden Gloves Champion. Now I can add that to his early life adventures, which included a short stint at being a reporter in Yreka, then a dance instructor at Arthur Murray and ended up working of SP Railroad for 40 years.

It is cold today as we have had needed snow in the mountains, Only a little fell on our valley. Worked on genealogy today and posted pictures and information on the parents of Melvin Mora Hill, Ron's father. They were John J. Mora and "Cora" aka Carolyn H. Lewis. They lived in St. Helena and Fruitvale California. John was a proprietor and owned a Barber Shop. Both he and Cora were active in different organizations, like the Eagles and the Redmen and active in the community as the newsclipping show. John died at an early age of 46 from pneumonia. See all the information on the Schwagerl/Mora/ Hill page.
